About Flower City Masonry, Inc.
Founded in 1988 by George Bethlendy, along with close friend and fellow Hungarian Ferenc Szente, Flower City Masonry, Inc. began as a small residential masonry contractor built on hard work, precision, and pride in craftsmanship. Through steady growth, strategic reinvestment, and an unwavering commitment to quality, the company expanded into the commercial sector - quickly establishing itself as a trusted and capable partner on large-scale projects.
Within a few short years, Flower City Masonry, Inc. became one of the select masonry contractors able to complete major “big box” retail developments on schedule and to the highest standards. As our reputation grew, so did our client portfolio, which includes nationally recognized brands such as Walmart, Lowe’s, Target, Walgreens, and Rite Aid. The company has also collaborated with Stone Construction Equipment in testing innovative technology, including the Groutzilla grout dispensing machine.
Today, Flower City Masonry, Inc. is led by Miklos (Miki) Vegvari, who has been an integral part of the company since 2006. With decades of hands-on experience and leadership, Miki continues to guide the company forward while upholding the values it was built on. Ferenc Szente has since retired, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and craftsmanship that remains embedded in our work.
In October 2025, we lost our founder, mentor, and dear friend, George Bethlendy. George was more than a leader, he was the heart of this company. He will forever be “the boss,” and his standards, work ethic, and spirit continue to shape everything we do. Every project we take on is carried out in his honor.
Flower City Masonry, Inc. remains a proud member of the Rochester Builders Exchange. Our team is OSHA-certified, with all employees completing the 10-hour safety course and continuing education in aerial lifts, fall protection, scaffold safety, and more. We are fully equipped with state-of-the-art tools and technology, allowing us to consistently deliver efficient, high-quality results.
From challenging winter conditions to demanding project schedules, we are built to perform. Since expanding our dedicated office staff, we have further streamlined project management, document submittals, and turnaround times, ensuring our clients receive the responsiveness and professionalism they expect.
